To Give Thanks Means to Receive
This joyous Thanksgiving message by Mother Basilea Schlink, reminds us that for every difficulty in our lives, the way to receive help is to give thanks. There is tremendous power in thanking the Lord. When we give thanks something happens… When we say, “Lord, You always have a way,” we praise the love of God which finds a way and carries us through.
What are a few worries and problems to the Lord who created heaven and earth – for whom nothing is impossible? To think about His love and might makes us strong and happy. To praise His love and power drives away cares and sadness, and when God wills – even change people, relationships and difficulties. God is Lord over them all… He need only say one word, and people’s hearts, minds and intentions can be changed.
We owe God praise, for He brings us victory and transforms all our difficulties. Where does He find praise among His children today? When the early Christians began to praise the Lord, their meeting room shook, and God’s arm was moved. Oh, that we might transform our prayer lives into praise lives. Then we would indeed receive his help.
Who can plumb, who assess
how the Father wills to bless?
He loves giving, helping, aiding
all His children gently leading
that they all may find true joy.
To You thanks now we raise,
Father, hearken to our praise!
Like a river streams Your goodness,
overwhelming us with kindness,
we taste paradise on earth.
You are kind, always kind!
Only love in You we find.
Joyfully we praise Your mercy,
Father, You are love – love only!
You are good, so good to us! MB
